Leanne C. Heller, M.D.
Biography
February 2003 --
Leanne Heller, M.D., is a Texas state-licensed psychiatrist, and a board eligible
specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Heller, who completed her training
through programs in San Antonio, Austin and Laredo, has provided care for the San Marcos,
TX area community since 1999. Her primary emphasis is treating the behavioral
healthcare challenges of children, adolescents, adults and their families. Dr. Heller is
experienced in meeting the needs of varied diagnoses and has worked with clients of widely
varied ages and ethnic backgrounds. She works closely with healthcare professionals to
provide optimal treatment and maintain the continuity of care for her clients.
Dr. Heller received her Doctorate in Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin in
Milwaukee, WI. She subsequently completed her residency in General Psychiatry at the
University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and was subsequently selected
for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Austin State Hospital
(ASH), completed in 1999.
She has also served the needs of Austin's Charter Behavioral Healthcare and the Brown
School's Health Care Rehabilitation Center. Prior to medical school, Leanne earned a B.A.
in Biology at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York, near her hometown of Albany.
Dr. Heller is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists,
the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County
Medical Society. She is also active in the community through San Marcos'
Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club, as well as the Bluebonnet Lions Club.
Leanne expresses her appreciation of nature through outdoor activities such as hiking
and camping, as well as breeding Alaskan Malamutes and ferrets. She has volunteered her
time to Big Brothers and Sisters in San Antonio and to the San Marcos CISD through its
Partners in Education program. Leanne resides with her husband, Jeff, in the San Marcos
area.
